Charity: The Kindness of Strangers
The Kindness of Strangers
Small Independent Registered Charity
Kindness of strangers a new small independent charity established as a result of discontentment with big international charities and their lack of disclosure, inspired the charity to develop an organisation with 100%transparency all monies raised through their appeal will be donated to support global families around the world at risk of illnesses.
The charity follows the platform of the Channel 4 production the Secret Millionaire In this self funded trip, they plan to camp rough and are relying on the kindness of strangers across the globe to help them on their journey whether it be providing a home-cooked meal, directions, or a barn to stay in for the night, which will guide them to families in need of the most support. The Duo Kimmi and Brett are extremely realistic about their challange "Although we understand that we will never raise enough money to change the world, we would like to think that we can change the world for a few". The duo are not restricted as to where they donate the raised funds, but believe they will get more mileage from the pound in areas like Asia. "We are aiming to get to these areas by January 2012 and the finish line in October 2012 in London".
Support Kimmi and Brett as they embark on their self funded journey around the globe to support families whose children are at risk of illness linked to poverty, they start their bicycle mission from London to Melbourne on the 11th June 2011. Help The Kindness of Strangers to raise their Target £5,000 they currently have raised £390.00 to donate visit http://www.thekindnessofstrangers.net/
They will be hosting an event Bar Wars on Sunday 10th April 2011. Entry is a £3 donation going straight to the charity.

Mother's Day 2011
As Mother's day draws upon us I have been trying to select famous quotes which best represents Motherhood. As a mother myself the bond I have with my daughter has grown stronger and stronger with each year. I am aware family models are ever changing and hopefully I have reflected this well with the following quotes ENJOY
Happy Mother's Day.
The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new. ~Rajneesh
Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs... since the payment is pure love. ~Mildred B. Vermont
Now that... my kids are grown, I understand how much work and love it takes to raise and to keep a family together. The example of your strength, devotion, and patience is now rippling through the generations. Thank you! ~Forest Houtenschil
Mothers hold their children's hands for a short while, but their hearts forever. ~Author Unknown
Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother. ~Oprah Winfrey
Enjoy your day Mother's and for those wanting to purchase some last minute bits for mum look no further we have selected two Wandsworth businesses.

Battersea, SW11
Freelance Artist/ Photographer Michael Mapp brought Edgewear.uk to the attention of the public in his Exhibition 'Unseen' at Acquire Arts Battersea, the artist's handmade gems needs as much publicity as possible and why not support the Handmade and Craft Industry by promoting key gifts for Mother's day.
Edgewear.UK established in 2005 pushes the boundaries of vinyl plastic onto Cotton, Canvas or Glass. The uniqueness stems from the artists technique, and processes. The images are captured through photography which is transfered to vinyl through a plotting technique. The independent artist skillfully handpicks each item playing close attention to likenesses of the original photographic image which can take up to three hours or more dependent on the detail and number of colours.
The processes applied to each article turns a photographic experience into an extrodinary skillfully crafted piece of Bespoke Art.
Edgewear.UK is suitable for all occassions Mother's day, Birthday's,Weddings, Christenings, Fundraising and Events.
Edgewear.UK has a little something for everyone including one off pieces which the artist is happy to promote through CreativeHappen London with 10% off when mentioning this code CH-001. I have been advised the last dates for orders for Mother's Day purchases is Wednesday 30th March 2011 5pm so hurry!

For the Family: A Photographic Exhibition not to be missed: Unseen Encore ended on the 5th April 2011
UNSEEN UNCORE
Iconic Subjects and Landscapes by Artist/Photographer Michael Mapp in a remarkable exhibition end April 5th 2011. New exhibition to be announced shortly.
Wandsworth Artist/Photographer Michael Mapp in this rare opportunity will be showcasing his contemporary visual photography at the Exhibit Balham. The exhibition has been running since October 2010, although not heavily publicised this exhibition is one not to be missed. The artist has two collections on display his Iconic music collection and visual Landscapes.
THE CRUSH ROOM
The Crush Room showcases The Sonic Youth Collection this influential 80s American Indie Band, who gained a reputation through their experimental nature with their instruments and vocals which changed the shape of Indie music in the US. The band are extremely respected in the music and Arts scene here in the UK and around the world and will be in the line-up for The Japan Benefit Concert on the 27th March 2011 (view link) http://www.millertheatre.com/Events/EventDetails.aspx?nid=1447
The Japan Benefit Concert raises$33k

I feel extremely privileged to have personally had the opportunity to have met the band for a number of years including my three year old who Thurston Moore was blown away with! I get a little star struck at times especially when in the presence of Kim the only female band member and Bassist, not to mention a mum she's an Icon i'm such a big fan. Thanks to the artist in question and Daniel Mapp the bands longstanding Tour Manager for making the experience memorable.
The lovely band for many years have given permission for the Artist Michael Mapp to document their UK ATP tours, this exclusive collection is the first of its kind to be exhibited here in the UK. The Sonic Youth Collection allows the UK public an opportunity to gain a different perspective of this Legendary band.
Further to the Sonic Youth collection Mr Mapp has rare work on display of American cult 90s band the Pavement in their reunion tour at Brixton Academy May 2010, its a shame they are still not making music together anymore as a collective, but have solo projects. Therefore grab the rare opportunity to view the whole band together and soak in stunning pictures of lead singer Stephen Malkmus, and the legend Mark Ibold bass guitarist and the other amazing members.
The artist who is very shy about his work and achievements also has on display his earlier work taken at the tender age of 17 of the great 70s Music Pioneers Parliament Funkadelic a touch of luck put him in the position to photograph them on and off stage and of course the main man George Clinton. View Mapp's stunning black and white collection of the full band as unfortunately the band member Garry Shider otherwise known as "The Diaper Man" passed away on June 16th 2010 RIP.This experience many years ago was to be pivotal in starting Michael Mapp's career in Photography.
THE RESTAURANT
In the lovely family restaurant at this establishment view the artists contemporary visual landscapes of London his work highlights the immense talent embedded within London and is something the artist wants to promote in some way for the 2012 Olympic Games, he says 'watch this space'. The Artist informs me on New Years Day the Sonic Tour Manager came down to view his complete collection, which received a big thumbs up! more info on the Artists blog below.

Bookshop Review: Under the Greenwood Tree
Under The Greenwood Tree
Books.Toys. Cafe
Clapham Old Town
SW4
Today I discovered Under the Greenwood Tree based in the heart of Clapham Old Town its an amazing children's hub specialising in books and toys and even has a cafe'with scrumptious cakes yum yum... not to mention good coffee! Under the Greenwood Tree have a good selection products for boys and girls aged 0-11 years with products ranging from rattles to craft sets, with noticible brands on display such as Lego, Sylvanian Families, Meccano and loads more...there is enough floor space to try and test the products. It was a good thing my little one was at nursery at the time as I think I would have had a difficult time leaving the shop without a huge unplanned shopping bill.
I was impressed with their educational range which really supports the Early Years Foundation and beyond. The staff were extremely warm and welcoming, I received a warm greeting from the owners who informed me of their store opening December last year and has been very popular with the locals. I was happy to hear of their weekly story time events which runs every Saturday at 11.am- all ages welcomed. And yes parents they have a baby changing area and space for buggies, we recommend you visit, if you pop in mention our review:-)
